We are working with a market leading private equity investor with a focus on investing sustainably and responsibly in midmarket businesses seeking rapid growth in the industries of tomorrow. They are looking for a Director – Responsible Investing and Impact in their Sydney Office. This role will be critical in leading, developing, and implementing their responsible investment strategy.

As the leader responsible for responsible investment, your key responsibilities would involve driving the development and implementation of the fund’s responsible investment strategy, policies, and governance. This includes advising the Managing Partners on ESG and impact matters to align with strategic priorities and leading a team to incorporate ESG and impact frameworks into investment decisions. You will also support the investment teams in assessing ESG risks and opportunities throughout the deal lifecycle and work with portfolio companies to improve their ESG/sustainability and impact performance. Additionally, you will focus on improving the fund manager’s own operational ESG/sustainability and impact performance, producing regular reporting for investors and stakeholders. As the subject matter expert, you will provide thought leadership, engage with industry associations, and educate investment teams on responsible investing/ESG initiatives and regulatory trends.

You will have over 10 years of experience in responsible investing/ESG, ideally within the investment or asset management industry or large consulting organizations. You should possess a strong understanding of social and environmental sustainability issues and have practical knowledge of the responsible investing/ESG and impact investing industry and regulations. You excel in stakeholder management, building trust, and influencing individuals at all levels. A strategic thinker with excellent prioritization skills, you are able to deliver with impact. Strong communication skills and client-facing experience are necessary. You will also have experience in leading and managing effective teams. You are motivated by working alongside thoughtful and successful individuals and will thrive in a purpose-driven organization that values excellence and collaboration, interacting effectively with individuals at all levels.
