About the Opportunity:
Finance Services are seeking an Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) Reporting Analyst to join their team in a permanent capacity. The ESG Analyst reports to the Group Financial Accounting & Reporting Manager and partners with the Sustainability Manager and wider business to support the implementation of ESG policy initiatives, providing data gathering, analysis, enhanced insights and reporting to drive continued ESG performance improvements and supporting our broad suite of ESG disclosures.

The ESG Analyst will champion all ESG data across the business and will co-ordinate all our internal and external ESG related reporting requirements. This role is responsible for driving sustainability performance and monitoring/ evaluating SA Power Networks performance against various sustainability objectives with the aim to bring positive change in the businessâ sustainability strategy.

Key Responsibilities include;
  • Support the ongoing rollout of SA Power Networks sustainability strategy and implementation of programmes to help the business achieve key objectives
  • Proactively identifying ESG issues for SAPN, understanding the implications, and supporting the Sustainability Manager and Group Financial Accounting & Reporting Manager in addressing these.
  • Support communication with key stakeholders, notably Group investors and ESG Ratings agencies.
  • Support the development of key sustainability communications such as the Sustainability Report (assisting the Sustainability Manager), sustainability website updates.
  • Develop and maintain ESG analytic and reporting tools, including the continuous improvement of reporting processes, including streamlining and automating of processes.
  • Perform ongoing data quality assessments, identifying discrepancies/inconsistencies, and resolving them.
  • Manage and oversee SAPNâs ESG data submission to our owners Groupâs sustainability data platform.
  • Provide analysis of supply chain emissions, working with finance and procurement teams to enhance data quality.
  • Conduct ESG analysis and research to support the implementation of the Sustainability Vision.
  • Monitor and maintain a disclosure calendar of current and pending voluntary, stakeholder and regulatory ESG disclosures.
  • Prepare ESG reporting disclosures for SAPNâs statutory financial statements.
  • Assist in drafting disclosures and updating policies in preparation for external ESG rating.
  • Support the production of ESG training material.
  • Support the delivery of green and sustainable finance reporting, engage with Treasury to aggregate data required for SANPâs green and sustainable financing bond tracking (where applicable).
  • Supporting on the reporting against a sustainable finance framework being developed for SAPN Foster relationships across the Group to support engagement and collaboration.

What you will need:
  • Undergraduate degree or above in accountancy, environment science, sustainable development, climate change or other relevant translatable discipline.
  • 3+ yearsâ experience in ESG, finance sector, or professional services in an international or large and complex organisation.
  • Experience in creating and delivering ESG reporting.
  • Understanding of the ESG landscape, including ESG frameworks, regulations, trends, and best practices
  • Excellent analytical capacity supported by clear and concise communication skills.
  • Proven ability to process and analyse large volumes of data, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Expertise in climate action and emissions reporting (desirable)
