We are developing an inhouse Climate Centre of Expertise (CCoE) to provide direction on Aviva's climate and environmental strategy and are now looking to recruit inhouse experts at group level to coordinate this across the business. It's a very exciting function which sits within the broader corporate and brand affairs within Aviva, due to this we have a unique opportunity for an ESG Policy Manager to join our newly crafted team. This is a great job for someone who is motivated by embedding sustainability into business and the ability to understand, engage and influence a range of enterprise-wide stakeholders!


A bit about the job:

This role is key to the business as you will be responsible for leading all aspects of the development of policies, positions and approaches, ensuring critical engagement with key stakeholders across Aviva. You will be accountable for the drafting and socialising of policies, positions and approaches whilst ensuring the execution and embedding/integration of the policy across Aviva. Whilst simultaneously playing a key role in ensuring implementation of the advocacy strategy to support the external engagement to advance those policies.


This will require a complete review to understand all current group policies, positions & approaches and maintain a library; supporting the wider team and Group functions to implement, embed and maintain it. We feel it’s an exciting role as you will collaborate with our Public Affairs team, the Sustainability Advocacy Group and coordinate with appropriate senior advocacy decision makers across Aviva to ensure it is run effectively.


Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Experience developing internal policies and methodologies (preferably in insurance or asset management sector)
  • Policy development background in international climate /nature. Knowledge and understanding of national and international climate/nature policy regulatory landscape
  • Understanding of sustainability strategy development, preferably in the insurance / investment sector
  • Strong project management skills, with experience delivering projects to a high standard
  • Really good stakeholder management skills, can influence and effectively build and maintain relationships at a senior level

  • Starting salary of circa £55,000 (National) and circa £70,000 (London based applicants) depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications
